Maritess Bott focuses her practice on Estate Planning, Asset Protection, Probate, Trust Administration and Elder Law. Maritess expertly structures a broad spectrum of documents ranging from simple, individual wills and trusts, to complex plans involving family limited partnerships, closely-held businesses and special needs trusts. She takes pride in her ways to deal with asset preservation, tax planning, business succession, and the full spectrum of other estate related issues. She is a skilled professional who understands that sorting out the finer points of an estate is an important task that can often be intimidating and complicated for her clients, but they find that her compassionate manner and ability to untangle the details and simplify matters,inspires their trust.
Prior to starting her own law firm in 2007, Maritess worked at two boutique firms in downtown Chicago. At such firms she concentrated on helping various business owners and high net worth individuals with their estate plans and advanced planning for asset protection, reduction of taxes, business succession and charitable planning.
In 2017, Maritess earned her Series 65 license to provide her clients with the education they need to make solid investment decisions. Maritess believes that estate planning and financial planning often go hand in hand. She partnered up with Abundance Financial Coaching LLC, a registered Investment Advisory company that offers fee-only portfolio management, which allows her clients to take full control of their finances through education in academic and scientific-based investing, resulting in peace of mind about their investments.
Maritess earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Northern Illinois University, a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Dominican University and a Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School. She has been a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys since 2003, a national organization dedicated to promoting excellence in estate planning by providing its exclusive membership of attorneys with up-to-date research on estate and tax planning, educational materials, and other important resources to empower them to provide superior estate planning services to families in their communities.
Maritess resides in Rolling Meadows, Illinois with her husband, Gary, and their children, Zachary, Nathaniel and Jocelyn. In her spare time, she enjoys sewing, basketball, volunteering and hanging out with her friends and family.
